When you have access to the bedroom you can change your appearance and personality in the Asarte mirror on the left side of the room.

When you open up the room (area) in the Homestead where the demon is. He will charge you $1,000 to reset all your stats. If you just want to add an ability or talent point you will need certain things. Things that after over 130 hours in game I never found once. However, when you do a stat reset it will WIPE all of your skills, talents, everything. If you've learned any spells they will completely disappear. You will have to buy the books all over again or hopefully you've saved your extras found and sent them to the Homestead.

so I should start over again...

No. You can still pick up pet pal on your next level up with whatever character you want. If I'm not mistaken it should be an auto point for your starting toon. You should already have it. Unless you want to get rid of it, then it's only 1 point and I wouldn't sweat it at all. It actually comes in really handy down the line.

Not sure what changes you want to make but unless it's a dire change (like going from ranger to mage) I'd just stick with it and move on. You'll get enough points throughout levels to balance things out as long as you didn't start off too gimped.

I want to give my character a personality more than anything

Then yes, I'd start a new game. I finished mine regardless and will enjoy the AI a bit more on my 2nd playthrough. However, it's not game breaking or annoying the old way. Least, that's how I feel.

I know, but it feels weird at time to role-play with myself, I don't play co-op and dont intent to do it either, so I will restart the game, a shame they didnt let us chose it after the patch for those who couldn't pick one from the start before the patch was released, well there was that "random" personality but that just sucks

Thanks for the help!

I was able to change the personality type for free as soon as the homestead opened up. I still can't change attributes, etc. though. I changed my mains' personalites from random to no AI (bc I like roleplaying both and random was random instead of any personality) but there were several options there for each character.
