Pet Pal only on main character?
Can Pet Pal be trained on non main character? Like Jahan or Henc?

It would be useless to do if you can. NPC's will only talk to a main character, if you try to talk to them, they will call you a butler and demand to see your masters (The Main Characters).

Would be pointless to get it on different character. Same with charma, and lucky charm, crafting, blacksmithing.

But it allow you to talk to them?

Yeah, just make sure you have the character selected that has that talent when you talk to an animal. There's a few quests and a lot of animal hints also that you only get from taking this talent so you definitely should get it on one of your characters.

Oh... Not sure. Vendors seem to get pissy when you talk to them on side-characters. Might want to put it on one of the mains just to be safe.

Thank you for the help, nobody know if pet pal on jahan work?
Warren Jul 25, 2014 @ 4:55am
I gave Pet Pal, high leadership and high charisma to one of my mains, usually a ranger (not a mage because charisma would be lowered by Stench).
This guy acts as talker, barterer, animal friend and does the "face" of the group.

So, any recent review on how pet pal works on a side character?
I was planning to put pet pal on the ranger we meet in cyseal, as for role playing point of view, this seems normal for a ranger to have this ;)

And so, will it work?

Thanks

I feel like if it would have worked they would have simply given it to her from the start. I mean FFS she was raised by animals and the only reason she wouldnt have the skill is companion limitations.

Companions can not learn Pet Pal. It would make sense story-wise for Bairdotr to have that talent, but companions and henchmen can not talk to NPCs (other than to get a dismissive comment and possibly the option to trade).
They also can not learn Know it All or Stench, since the opinion drop is pretty much irrelevant to them.

But Bairdotr comes with stench.

That is justifiable without impacting the game mechanics, though (Pet Pal would just be a waste, if a companion could understand animals, but all they say is they will only talk to the main characters).
Some of the henchmen come with Stench and Know it All, as well, since they were designed by kickstarter backers before some of the talents were changed and that restriction was added.
