Have you found the Witch? Got close to her to update the log?

Found the with before talking to the fire elemental and according to my log and to the dialogue I have received the fire rune but it is not present in any of my inventories.
I have destroyed the elemental staff with a non-player character (Jahan) but the elemental spoke to a PC afterwards, might that be the problem?

Any way around this except for loading an old save game (the most recent I have where the staff is not yet destroyed is prior to the fight with the Conduit's lackeys and I will not replay several hours in Hiberheim).

You've checked every character's bag? You've checked every item name with a mouseover? You went to the jail and saw the White Witch imprisoned? I can't recall if simply interacting with the witch would queue you to use the item or if you had to use it from your inventory, but the first things I would do are:

Inspect the witch
If it doesn't prompt me, double, triple, quadruple check every icon and name of every item in every character's bag. Then I would go back to the forge and talk to the Fire elemental again in case I only imagined myself talking to him. Then I'd go back to step one, again. There's literally only a handful of possibilities and outside of those, it would be hilarious if you just dropped it somewhere like trash trying to organize your bags.

Alternatively, it's only HOURS in Hiberheim because you had no idea what you were doing. When you replay it, the exploration takes a few minutes, because now you already know where the key areas are. The only time consuming portion is re-engaging hordes of Immaculates and wolves, and even that isn't a big deal because they're pretty weak. Just man up, it's only tedious in your head. Jake's murder only takes like fifteen minutes when you already know who you have to talk to.

$callywag, thanks for the lengthy answer. I already had a mail sent to Larian support when I re-checked everything again according to your suggestions and finally found the rune buried within a container. Now I am quite ashamed that I did not find it earlier... ;-)

re: Re-playing Hiberheim - this would have taken me hours, the three big fights alone took me several tries (Conduit demons, King Boreas & The Guardian) and I really would have hated doing them again.

Ooh yeah, I admittedly only did King Boreas properly once and it was a long fight. Typically I'd go kill the Goblins in the valley leading up to Laculla Mines, who are also level 12 (as Boreas is), then backtrack and steamroll Boreas when I'm level 14. It's cheap but... usually the loser deems anything the winner does as cheap in the first place ;p

Int irl = exploit
