Where do I install mods?
I have downloaded mods from Nexus. Depsite the mods saying they work with steam and following the install instructions there are no mods listed in the mod window on the main menu, and I do not notice any difference in the game. Where am I supposed to put these mods?

That depends on what the nexus files contains (people can upload in a variety of formats, nexus basically just hosts files, it doesn't make sure they're a "mod" or in a specific format.)

Do you have a .pak, or do you have named folders?

If you have a .pak it needs to go in
C:\Users\***YOURNAME****\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin\Mods

if you have some sort of folder with a lot of numbers after it it goes in
"Wherever your steam is"\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Divinity - Original Sin\Data\Mods

if you have something else let us know.

They are all in named folders (Though not with numbers after them). The files within the folders have different file types. I have extracted all the .rar files to both locations and still nothing in the mods screen. I'm baffled.

Can you tell us the folder names?

There are a couple, but they are Data and Public

the names of the files you downloaded are data and public? sounds like that person did not zip things up in the most user friendly fashion. Can you link us the mod?

One thing to try would be to look in the "data" folder. If theres another folder called "mods" look in that, and if theres one of those "Name_of_mod_XXXXXXXXXXXXXX" folders, put it in the location from my first post. if theres something similar in "public" put it in SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Divinity - Original Sin\Data\Public

I'm having the same problem. but I just have a pak file. I dumped it into the mod section but it refuses to load it. I also cant seem to upload pak files into the DOS toolset. what am I supposed to do to make this work?

So, just put the "whatever-mod.pak" file on the ...\Steam\steamapps\common\Divinity - Original Sin\Data folder and that will do the trick.
You shouldn't need any other "Mods" folder, I don't know what you guys are talking about.
