ASYLUM
Calming the dude
In another post this got buried so I’ll ask again

I found all 3 vinyl records and took pictures of their sleeves. I’ve noted the note from the guard, the music box, the instrument in the cell/writing on the wall, the teddy bear…

But how do you know what song to play? I am not seeing any hint that correlates with any song. Even hearing your description as you play each track gives away nothing. Is there a missing 4th record that has “creepy children’s music?”

I do not want to brute force (even though I’ve already done that for half the songs)

OK, tips here:

Have you thoroughly explored the dude's cell in the Tunnel of the Damned?

There is an item on his bed... it's a toy.

The toy is an instrument.

Maybe the dude likes songs with that instrument??

Songs that you may have in your... VINYL RECORDS?!

Play the song matching the dude's music instrument toy in the victrola.

yes i saw that but honestly don't know what it is... looks like an autoharp? but i didn't see that mentioned in a song...

also not sure where it's really spelled out that THAT is actually his cell...

but ya not sure what instrument it is or what song mentions its inclusion

OK, check out the other thread about this, but I believe the issue is that: putting the correct vinyl in the victrola isn't enough, you must also move the arm to select the corresponding track that will be played.

Yes I know that. Just don't know what song.

Ok I figured out it’s the harp song. I’m a musician and even I had trouble remembering what type of instrument that was. And going from (what I believe is an) autoharp to regular classical full size harp is a stretch for me, they’re such different instruments.

I think this puzzle needs a better clue. 1. You should comment when you look at the ?autoharp? “oh this is a type of harp I believe”, because I guarantee at least 50% of people won’t know that. 2. You may need to spell it out that the dude like music with harps even more, because like I said, if this is an autoharp it’s such a different instrument than a straight full size harp I didn’t even put them as similar in my head.

I agree about needing a better clue. I'm not entirely happy about the resolution of that particular puzzle, so thanks for the feedback. Some instruments, as they're randomized, are easier than others.
