Linux Version ?
According to the Green light page Incredipede has Linux support. Is there any ETA on when us Linux folk might expect to see it :)?

I'm expecting to roll out Linux support next month. Be warned however, it will run in a graphically less rich mode :/

As long as there is support I am more than happy to part with my money.

will we get the linux version if we bought the windows version via steam or only if we bought it straight from your site? loving the game btw. was this ok'd via greenlight? I feel like I'm playing a really strange SNES game right now =)

Incredipede uses Adobe AIR and Stage3d for graphics card support. Adobe has not written graphics card support into the Linux version of AIR so the game can only run with software rendering which is much slower. To compensate I have to turn off a lot of the fancy graphics.

You will get it either way you buy it.

Sort of. Incrediepde has been nominated for Best Visuals at the Independent Game Festival and Valve put all the nominees on Steam so technically that's how the game got on Steam. However, Incredipede was also #8 on Greenlight when it was nominated and would definitely have been Greenlit just a few days later.

When we got the nomination I contacted Valve to remove Incredipede from Greenlight to make sure I didn't waste someone else's Greenlight slot. Valve was already on top of this though and had removed the two IGF nominated games before I even wrote them.

The other game that was IGF nominated and also on Greenlight was the engrossing and fascinating Kentuky Route Zero.

Incredipede was written in as3 using Box2d for physics and the Starling 2d graphics API.

Great to hear you're porting this to Linux :). Will there be a demo for Linux though? My CPU is quite old, and I'm not sure it can handle a software rendered game. So, naturally, I'd like to try it out before purchasing it.

If you head over to Incredipede.com you can play the demo in your browser using Linux. If you use Chrome you can even be hardware accelerated.

Thanks! :)
damn, first anodyne now this...... you've won again adobe......
Boo, Adobe.

And what kind of crazy world do we live in when you can play a more graphically rich copy of a game in a web browser than you can with it running natively.
