I picked the Merchant Guild because they seemed to be the least combat "faction". But, I couldn't ask Gaelius about anything and his replacement is even more useless so I couldn't access his library, the pass, the camp or learn about the Helm of Destiny. (no option for pretending to be a necromancer either)
Tower of Zamedi is the similar, couldn't ask about it and the alternate way in is inside a robot I refuse to destroy. I mean I could try and kill it with my 4str/4con talker, but that seems unlikely. Plus it "likes" me to the point of explaining how some ancient powerplant & weapon system control console works. Can't ask it for the access codes to the Tower of Zamedi?
You can't ask the Inferiae guardian for the 'access codes' because the key is his core.
The guardian rebuilt the facility from rubble, the teleporter, control panels and powerplant along with the various defenses, couldn't I ask him to built a new "minotaur" class powercore? "Balaaz attacked. He is comming for you. You must do it before it is too late." could be interpreted as new orders.
Mostly don't want to "kill" the guardian. A robot that can build power plants, computers and teleporters? That's more valuable than all of Maadoran.
He couldn't repair his own damage either.
Anyway, I see your point of view. Once we have more content in place, we'll take another look at the flow and alternative ways in. Maybe we'll add an option for loremasters to prove their value to Gaelius. Maybe we'll add a way to teleport to Zamedi from another location. Whichever option makes more sense.
In general, more alternative options and ways past something are planned (like a non-combat option for merchants in the second IG quest or a way to get past the biggest gang in the Slums), but at the moment the remaining locations are a priority.
Were there more tower keys like the Crimson Eye? Also why was the empire fascinated with spheres so much? All their display screens are half spheres and their special keys are all spheres.
This play through was based around a loremaster trying to get as much lore as possible, 7 persuasion, 5 streetwise, 6 lore, 8 crafting, 5 trading by the end of Maadoran. Couldn't fight my way out of a mugging but I had a very well crafted suit of armor. Not being able to ask Gaelius (or his replacement) about his Library was rather frustrating since it was the main reason I went to the city. I didn't personally care about the merchant's guild plotline since it didn't involve any artefacts and was just going through the motions, like some job to pay the rent. Actually I don't remember the Merchant Guild quest paying much money, not even 1/10th what I got as a mercenary->IG through looting.
So yeah, ways for "pure" non-combat Loremasters to access Gaelius' Library, Zamedi, Harran Pass and the Ordu would be nice. Lore checks, Crafting checks, buying access, prospectors in bars selling items and maps. Anything would do. Could even fix up Levir's heal-o-matic since apparently my character is skilled enough to not simply fix but upgrade magi level technology.
I'd envision my character writing a book about all they encounter and selling it at the end of the adventure, greatest repository of lore the world would know.
