Second, your skills are low. Usually I recommend people to start the game with 3/3 (weapon/defense) or 4/3, and then raise it to 5/5 before going to the outpost.
How is harder to answer as I have no idea which quests you've done and what your stats and other skills are.
From an older post:
I'm playing this merc at the moment (mostly testing the difficulty with a pure combat character)
STR 9, DEX 8, CON 7, PER 8, INT 4, CHA 4.
Axe, Block, Crafting, Critical Strike. Most points go into Axe and Block. Get CS to 3 (and Axe and Block to 5) before you go to the raiders' camp or the mining outpost. Put the rest into Crafting.
Use the oval shield at first, switch to the infantry shield when you get Axe to 5. I used the bearded axe (skeggox), bought an iron one, crafted a better one when I got enough iron. Shield Bash is quite handy.
I used Whirlwind when surrounded, Bash to keep people out of my face, Normal, Power, and Aimed attack based on the situation and the enemy.
So far this character has been getting into every fight. The raiders' fight took 7 reloads, but I didn't have enough CS to take out the leader who was the hardest to kill in combat. I poisoned the outpost with the rat poison, killed them first man while talking to him, then killed the rest without much trouble.
Keep in mind that I didn't save Vardanis, but I did kill the thugs easily.
Nets!!!
Sword or spear 2-3
Dodge 4 (or block, but dodge and nets works better together for that extra counter-strike chance when they miss, and not having to switch inventory all the time.)
Crit strike 3 (remember to have a knife in your inventory)
Poison if need be. Alchemy 2 is a good thing to have, as it allows you to heal between the fights too.
Before going to the outpost, spike their wine with rat poison (or more potent poison from the assassin's guild if you belong to that faction). The rat poison weakens all the soldiers outside (while the assassin poison actually kills one of them, leaving you to deal with fewer when you get there.
As I approach the outpost, I keep going up to the first guard and slit his throat (hence the crit strike), this immediately takes out one of the two tanks. Then after surviving the first crossbowshot, run to the right, just around the small spiked palisade standing there, and hug it for dear life. The crossbowman can't see you there, and needs to shift his position in order to get at you (in fact if you position yourself just right, he'll get so confused he won't do anything for a few rounds before joining in).
You now have just a couple of rounds to dispatch each guard in turn as they come around to get you. First is hammer-guy, who you need to take out as quickly as possible. Netting is optional. He might be tough, but unless you brought a lot of nets, you need them for later. Next is either Decanus or Crossbowman. This is where you use your net. Net the Decanus and stab him to death with your tools of stabbiness, then run down that pesky crossbowman and spit on his remains (spitting is optional, but I'm not a fan of him, so that's what I tend to do).
For the people inside the mine you really just need to focus on the two soldiers. The miners may look tough with their pickaxes and shovels, but they are a breeze. The soldiers are not. Heal before entering, net if need be and stab them to death. Veni, vidi, victory.
It'll take a few tries, for sure, but this is my standard approach. Best of luck.
With high dodge, you can rely on dodging the bolts, that guy might hit you once or twice during the fight, it'll hurt, but you can manage it. The decanus must die asap if he gets in attack range, had to reload 2-3 times due to dying to that spear. After the battle, you'll probably need to heal (I saved the healing item I got from Miltiades quest for this), then head into the mine and kill the rest of them, like Casino said, drop the soldiers first because the miners are piece of cake.
Anyway, like Brew pointed out, you need serious combat skills to be able to kill everyone there, if your character isn't combat focused, you won't be able to do it.

The reason I'm asking is because you have a huge armor penalty. Hover your mouse over your defense the rating to see the breakdown. I loaded your save in the beta and the breakdown is:
+75 from skill, +5 from stat (low), -55 from armor (which might be too much but that's why it's beta), total 25 which explains why you're getting killed.
In this game grabbing the biggest shield, armor, and helmet is rarely a good idea. You have to "grow" into them, so when you select equipment you have to watch the penalties and choose equipment appropriate to your abilities.
Armor does one thing only - reduces damage, but if you're easy to hit, you won't last long anyway. So you need to balance armor's DR, max AP, and penalties, finding an item that's right for your build.
In general, if you're playing the beta, I'd suggest to switch to the early access build for now (your save should work) as beta is where we experiment, which might require much higher player skill to survive.
Overall, I'd say that Crafting is more important to a blocker than Trading (you have 3 points in trading, as it allows you to get better equipment. I'd use iron lorica segmentata as it would give you a better balance of DR and AP for the fight.
Still I'd suggest to play the early access build for now as the beta is where we try new things and see if they work.
