how to leave town

i have quest to stop a group from exploring some ruins but can't leave town. yes i know about the world map but there aren't any other locations available.

Did you actually accept the quests or said maybe/think about it? Until you agree to do it, they won't be added to your map.

These locations (the mining outpost and the raiders camp) are near Teron, so you should be able to see them once the quests are accepted.
