Either typo, or this has been lowered - the craft check is at 3 points total, raises to 4.
Going in with 4 craft loses the bonus.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but having serious cashflow problem at this point. Do you sell anything specific?
I think I really need some combat practice. Took so many reloads to win... against squatters >.<
Stuck on this. West door guard offs me even with additional +1 CS (total 4 points).
Can actually crit both guards in the tower (with CS 4) and get the fight with Flavius, but he's a tough cookie with this build.
Anyway, will mess around the compound tomorrow, gotta hit sack before work now. Blah, stupid responsibilities interfering with my gaming.
Anyway, thanks for the walkthrough. The decent builds I came up with that were doing fine in combat seem really limited as to access to various parts of the game (yes, I know, replay, but still). Don't feel like going social-side now, so the check details you provide are incredibly helpful.
Are you murdering the guard, and looting the merchant and chest? You should have like 260 gold in your pocket by the time you talk to Feng. I defer buying either of his trinkets (pretty sure I read you can purchase them again later in Ganezzar), so that saves some cash. Killing Cassius should net you another 75.
It feels like the Aemolas thing is kind of a wash early on (the hamata he gives you sells for a like half of the admission fee you paid), but the pay out later is pretty nice.
Buying the leather armor and spear schematics will cost you 125g, and the leather a few gold more, but making that ordu leather will be better than anything you will find (until you make the studded). It's a pretty sound investment.
Looting the palace to its fullest (see below) will nab you a few more gold. With 4 sneak/ 4 lock picking you can also visit the rich lady's house at night (as well as re-visiting Smith's to grab that chest you missed earlier). Completing the bandit and aurelian outpost quests will put another 100g or so in your pocket (which is a breeze once your crit, sneak, and body count are up to snuff). Corpsifying the street trash of Teron will put a few gold back in your pocket as well (also, bronze ingots don't sell for much, but turning them into upgraded items adds value with the vendors).
Save cash by using healing salves on yourself when you're banged up rather than paying the expensive healer fees.
Flavius is a tough bird. I don't mess with him. If you're really trying to pad you body count, and you find you can take him, then more power to you. The back room of the guard house has a chest you can loot if you have 3 sneak/3 lock pick, but I can't personally attest as to whether investing those points into lock picking now won't make things too tight later. Otherwise, I don't see any reason for even entering the building.
Just go around to the main building, climb to the roof, take out there guard up there, and snag the key. Dropping into bedroom nets you free etiquette, and with those stats you can kill the guard in the hall, pilfer the dining room (steel pugio and golden dishware), handle the display room, and waltz in to the throneroom unscathed.
Edit: Actually, it's a slight departure from the walkthrough, but I infiltrated with 3 sneak, 3 lock picking, 4 crit, then proceded to pick the place clean. Next, hit the bandits (CS leader, intimidate, profit). +1 sneak, and you're ready to hit Feng's, which will get you 4 pick locks. With this, you can rob the rich lady's house, get that chest you passed up in the Smith's house, and successfully infiltrate the mines at the Aurelian Outpost (including popping open that chest).
My new super uber crossbow character. I would not have been able to become arena champion so early in the game with melee skills. The bolter is an insanely overpowered weapon when combined with 4 alchemy.

Stuck on this. West door guard offs me even with additional +1 CS (total 4 points).
The guard takes off 25 HP. I'll add that.
I'll try to sit down tonight and give it another go. :)
Not entirely certain which part of the game you mean here, to be honest.
With these stats, if you start as mercenary, you will foil the robbery attempt (perception check), and all the merchant's loot will be yours for the taking once the assassin is dealt with (although you can choose to let him go as well), as well as another 250 in cash (and a bit of side loot) from the follow-up mission (provided you choose to fight, and the merchant dies).
You can choose to work for Neleos afterward, so the rest of the outline still works (killing spies -> defecting to Aurelian).
I start as a merc, so get all the loot from the opening sequence. The money issues come from nonexistent trading skill, and prices of the schematics. I ended up selling some of the alchemy supplies that I couldn't immediately use, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't the best way to go about it.
Technically I should be selling the looted weapons, but then I wouldn't have the resources to do crafting.
This is all long before the palace sequence, and I haven't used the healer even once.
Anyway, hope to sit down this weekend and try things out. Didn't manage to last time :(
