Your best character build?
I've played AoD countless times...on the order of 70 plays and well over 400 hours. This game still has replay value today. I've set various challenges for myself to keep it fresh...to see every secret, complete every quest, see various branching outcomes, etc. Lately I've been playing with powerful builds. The goal is to create a character that can take on any combat situation , acquire insane amounts of wealth, all the best items, learn every forgotten secret and most importantly, destroy a God with ease...or become one. I chose the former this time around. Here is my latest result, what's yours?

It's been a while so my memory is a bit blurry.

The 'strongest' build is 10 str 10 dex 8 con with spear. With this character I killed the god by a brute force alone without medicine and mind shield, only using normal spear attacks. It's good idea to start as an assassin and move to legionaries at the end of Teron. This character literally killed everyone but the god by just standing still, using spear push.

However, if you want to unlock all secretes you will have to go with Something like 6 strength, 10 dex, 4 con, 8 int, 8 per, 4 char, I believe. I've done that playthrough as well and did all quests, killed the god without mindshield but I needed medicine and bombs to kill him quickly.

You should look at this http://steamcommunity.com/app/230070/discussions/0/490123938432273537/ amazing walkthrough. It helps a lot.

I killed the God with no mind shield and no weakening cannister, just pure combat awesomeness. No alchemy, no bombs, just straight up melee. Stats were 8/8/8/4/4, and no stats were modified in the playthrough. You are right about spear, it is just uber. Missile weapons also work well for him. I took crafting all the way up to 10, full set of Meteor gear, and pwnt him with ease. Zamedi demon too. I think you could also do it with the Power Armor and dropped weapons, if you don't want to do Crafting.

i posted screenshots in the ITS hybrid thread. starting stats were STR 5, DEX 8, CON 6, PER 8, INT 9, CHA 4. 4 ranks in axe, 2 dodge, 2 cs. start as a merc -> join cado, then in maadoran, betray levir and join HA, while keeping the green jar for yourself. got all the lore except helm of darius and destroyed agathoth in hand to hand.

How much does STR really matter? I am starting to think I would have been *much* better off if I had gone with 6 STR and 6 INT rather than 8 STR and 4 INT. That said, I would have had little room for loot. :/ If I could just hire a slave and have him carry my stuff around, that would be nice.

the character i posted, with strength 5, had 173 kills; i went an almost all combat route through the game, with a melee weapon. with the right strategy, strength really doesn't matter that much at all. the extra points in intelligence mean more skill points to put into crafting and alchemy, which more than compensates for low strength.

Thanks, I guessed as much. It was a bloody pain to not be able to do anything in all those interesting ruins. But 6 CON? Didn't you get killed every other fight simply because?

on the contrary, i had a pretty easy time with this character, although i had to be pretty careful about being prepared for each fight. i kept my dodge and crafting high, which afforded a lot of protection, and used lots of alchemical weapons and maneuvering to keep myself from being surrounded.
