There is this porfessional Linux porter that were ready to port a game for free (https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/ryan-icculus-gordon-is-looking-for-new-games-to-port-to-linux-pay-not-required.10195/page=16#comments) but the offer may be outdated as it was 4 month ago.
The issue isn't porting the game (that's the easy part, relatively speaking) but making sure that it works for everyone. It's tempting to try (and hope for the best), we even talked to a Linux developer, but in the end it's a gamble. If things go wrong (let's say 25-50% of people can't play it) and we won't be able to fix it, nobody will thank us for trying and failing.
The Linux community is willing to help with any issue, some of the developers from other studios actually ask for a help from em when finding issues in Linux version before the release.

THQ Nordic for example thanked GOG.com for the help with issues in Linux version of Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy ( https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/sphinx-and-the-cursed-mummy-is-out-with-linux-support-mod-tools-and-constant-patched-improvements.11275 )

Indie studios also reach out either the /r/linux_gaming subreddit or GamingOnLinux for a help with testing the build before the release.

I don't doubt the Linux community's willingness to help. I doubt the engine and whether or not the issues that might arise could be resolved, in timely manner or at all.

Like I said, last time we upgraded the engine the game stopped working for all AMD users and there was nothing we could do and nothing the engine developers could do (or were willing to do). If not for AMD being willing to test the game, find the problem, and fix it on their end, we would have had a serious problem leading to mass refunds and possibly the end of our studio.

That's why I'm very reluctant to upgrade the engine again, especially since officially the engine doesn't support Linux yet.

Probabl best if u just open a beta branch for linux(and name it so that people don't acidentally switch into it) pretty sure quite a few linux users will be around to test things out either via wraper/native version(myself included)... this way u won't be takeing any chance of messing things up for Win OS users..

If past experience is any indication, testing works best when it comes to balance and first impressions. We had many cases of performance issues that were completely undetected by 50-80 testers who played the game daily for weeks. Thus it always comes to developers commitment to fix the issues and ability to do so.

Since we've already moved to the next project we can't spend weeks or months fixing issues as they pop up (both Win and Linux issues as the engine upgrade would cause both).
