Last but not the least, you killed the only, um, person who would have been very grateful for your services. Load a save and kneel before the god, if you want to rise above your station.
Ok, I perceived it like getting sent to siberia. I was just wondering if that was the only possable ending, and i'm glad to see it's not. What an amazing game this was. I can see myself replaying this several times in the fufture.
If you can't kill the god, then either serve him or report that you didn't find the temple. Someone else may find it later but that's not your problem. Kneeling before the god would elevate you higher than you could ever achieve on your own. Whether or not it's a good ending for you depends entirely on you (or your character).
Is he truly a god? Not in a biblical sense but for all intents and purposes he is. Play a loremaster on your next playthrough and you'll find out a lot more about the past, the nature of the gods (Agathoth isn't the only one you can bring back), etc.
