Turns out I have a few shoots of GMOTA with khorus.wad (real cool fantasy-themed episode, 'tis a perfect match for this particular gameplay mod).

Another fun mod is Samsara, it's also pretty gimmicky, but it really is fun to play through the original Doom levels as Duke Nukem or the Chex Quest guy.
Doom The Way ID Did and Maps of Chaos
Also Unloved and Action Doom 2.
Oh, and there is also health regeneration! I at least can understand why it is there, LOS would be almost unplayable on higher difficulties to to sheer number of enemies in small areas with often little place to dodge projectiles.
But, id does looks awesome and is atmospheric as ♥♥♥♥.

-Got some new videos since last time too if anyone wants a look:

-I forgot to mention it before, but I find out about a lot of WAD's here:

The author does a review about once a week, and they are always very informative with screenshots for each level. Definitely worth a look if you're looking for a WAD to play.
-Another option is Oblige:
http://oblige.sourceforge.net/
This is basically a doom random map generator. You set some stuff up, then it generates into a 32 level wad. It's not the same as hand-created levels, but it still makes some fun mid 90's era style maps.
-Here's a relatively new WAD that both looks great and is fun to player:

-Finally, these are the two Doom modding sites I reguarly check for the recent Doom mod developments and new:

http://forum.zdoom.org/viewforum.php?f=19
I found most of my gameplay mods from the Zdoom website, give it a look. Doomworld is where many WAD's in progress have updates so it's also worth checking.

Anyway, I've given up on Legacy of Sorrow around map 6. Amount of effort that went into visuals and scripting is more that impressive... I wish that at least 10% of that effort was invested into actual gameplay.
Right now I'm playing trough Doomed Space Wars
http://onemandoom.blogspot.ba/2015/09/doomed-space-wars-spacwarswad.html
Large, great looking Zdoom maps with textures from original Dark Forces. Great stuff.
Non confusing level design, plentiful shotgun ammo and the difficultly is fairly high but not frustrating like a lot of WADS.
