DOOM II

How can I find the IWAD?
Howdy everyone, I have little to no skill in this area, but, by necessity, I must access the IWAD. If anyone could tell me how, I would be very much obliged.

The IWAD is located in the game's installed folder, I would assume. Basically it should be in something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\<DOOM 2 folder> In other words, just search for the DOOM2.WAD file in the DOOM 2 folder in the Steam apps folder. The WAD file can be copied and used elsewhere such as for sourceports.

Thanks, however I have a new problem. I am using Doombuilder 2, and while I think I got the IWAD and mode down right, whenever I hit the play button, the application opens and then closes rapidly. I have the WAD in resources:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Doom 2\base\DOOM2.WAD

And the application for testing:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Doom Builder 2\Compilers\ZDoom\acc.exe

Is there anything wrong with either of these?

I'm pretty sure the DOOM2.WAD in the Steam version is fine, so the problem is probably related to Doom Builder 2. Sorry, but I have no experience with Doom Builder 2, so I can't really help with that. Hopefully someone with knowledge of that program can help. If you still need a solution, then you could try asking at forum.zdoom.org or www.doomworld.com/vb/ Those two forums are very active and there are usually more experienced DOOM utility users there.

I don't see a DOOM2.WAD file anywhere in my Doom 2 files. I don't even see a .wad file type at all.

The iwads have to be there, otherwise you wouldnt be able to run the game at all.

You may not have file extentions visible so .wad might not show, need to go to folder options and check the box to show extentions

in windows file explorer, do a search for *.wad It will display all .wad files in a directory.
