Cheats for DOOM II- How do I enable them?

I have searched through the internet, trying to find out how I can enable cheats so I can try them out but every method I tried wouldnt work. Can someone help?

Oops, I was playing on nightmare mode. That was why they wouldnt work.

yup. Nightmare and up (for custom difficulties like in brutal doom) have cheats disabled.

I believe you can still warp maps though

What if you can't get one of those codes to work, like the new noclip code IDCLIP?

IDCLEV## is actually the code, replacing ## with the map numbers.

But really, using a source port / console commands is better.

IDCLIP doesn't work in Doom 1, instead the code is IDSPISPOPD

i dunno what to tell you. all cheat codes can just be typed in during gameplay without pausing or anything.

unless you're typing idclip into zdoom's console or something, because that won't work.

I figured it out. I had "c" performing a different function, but that prevented the code from activating.

play doom with the classic controls and the cheats will work, cant type in cheats if using wsad controls

I am playing on DOOM 3 BFG is there any way to turn them off then?
