Where to get Doom64 ROMS with NO VIRUSES?
So I went to emuparadise.com and mcafee stopped my download so obvously that site is not trusted. Then I decide to check the myWOT reviews of the other sites that appear (doperoms, freeroms) and people speak of a "timebomb trojan" which infects your computer upon download and stays there undetected until a while later it breaks your computer. I would like to play Doom64 and right now Doom64 Ex seems like the only way to do it, but you need the ROM. Is there any chance of it coming to steam? I would gladly pay for it here. Thanks.

There might be a Special Edition coming to Steam because of the new Doom, but right now it doesn't seem likely.

Theres a doom 64 total coversion mod out there for doom 2. its close enough

Go find Doom 64 Ex. It's a total conversion mod to specifically recreate Doom 64 on PC.

Don't have access to the ROM though, thats why I asked for where to get the ROM =P.

The rom uses a completely different engine, and theres already a total conversion which brings the game to doom 2 as a mod, just google what they said, and you will find it. Its almost 100% accurate to doom 64, and is much easier than messing with rather finicky n64 emulators, which don't run doom 64 properly yet anywaay (last I checked)

also, anti virus can sometimes do false possitives fyi.

and a special edition of doom64 is extrmely unlikely, as it was id / midway, so the rights for it are very complicated

Doom 64 EX.

There is NO reason or need to get a rom to play it. Its a 100% faithful recreation.

That one isn't as faithful or complete as 64 EX, but its also really good and a better alternative to emulation... imho.

^ Google.

Pretty sure the rom site you mentioned is legit, the downloads have only 1 file (I checked with nes files anyway) and it is indeed the needed file and NOTHING else. I honestly think mcaffee is a false possitive in that case.

I would just be extremely careful, but a virus cannot do anything unless you give consent to run it, somehow. This can be clicking a popup, running an executable, ect ect, but opening the download folder and looking at the contents wouldn't

And false possitives are EXTREMELY common

^ This.

I double checked the process to get the Doom 64 EX running and it took all of two minutes, though I didn't use the site mentioned by the OP. That said I've used the mentioned website with no issues.

Download Doom 64 EX.
https://doom64ex.wordpress.com/downloads/

Download a Doom 64 ROM (should be a .z64 file) at the site of your choice. Place it in the Doom 64 EX folder, run WadGen.exe (comes with Doom 64 EX and will be in the folder) which will transform the .z64 file into a .wad file. Run launcher and customize the game... done. Simple as can be.
Ok so with all this said how do I by pass the options and extensions that mcaffee is implying to inhibit me from downloading these wad files.

Get an Nintendo 64 console
Wow. What even tells you he dosent have one?

Playing this game on original hardware is cancer. Even if I have it, I still play it with a source port.

also, you can try brutal doom 64 too. It's close experience but with minor changes, like new monsters who was cut and some map changes... just need doom 2.wad
