DOOM II

DOOM II

No Rest for the Living without bfg edition
Is there a way to play NRFTL without owning BFG? I have the wad for it, but both gzdoom and launching doom 2 through steam don't see it.

NRFTL isn't an iwad, so you'll have to drag and drop the file into the GZDoom application, like with other custom maps and mods. Since it is an official map pack, it does seem weird that you have to manually do it, I know

You can play through the new Unity-based re-releases. They have a few issues but are pretty good overall.

I dropped it in the gzdoom folder but still no effect, it doesn't see the wad

No, you drag it over to the GZDoom.EXE application file.

How much more simply are we going to have to word this?:steamfacepalm:

Oh, that. That's the first thing I did when I installed gzdoom, so no need to show your annoyance

Not a good idea. Even if you know he has all the wads, that's still improperly distributing game files.
Go ahead and Google wadsmoosh. You can combine wads you have together. Ultimate Doom, Doom 2, NRFTL, Sigil, Plutonia, and Evilution can all be put into one large wad. But it's not recognized in any source port as an official iwad, it's still treated as a custom Doom wad (pwad).

Oh, wow. Piracy in a 25 year old game who's owners dont care about it enough to release a modern not-♥♥♥♥ source port to put all the fan source ports to shame.

Let me play you a sad song on the world's smallest violin.

With all your complaining, sounds like you're the one who needs a song played from the world's smallest violin.

Whether a game came out yesterday or 25 years ago, piracy is still piracy. Why would Betheada bother, when they know that practically every classic Doom player is using one source port or another, many of which modding the ♥♥♥♥ out of the games? It's not in demand, there'd be no money or point in them doing it. The only people who even want that on PC are the whiney asses who are butthurt about the console releases. Literally every laptop and every computer made in the last 2 decades can run GZDoom with mods.

Don't want to interrupt, but anyway, I managed to launch NRTFL through GZDoom. I just reinstalled it in frustration and magically it worked. So thanks for the help and advices

the actual code and levels can be distributed by anyone, only the art is copyrighted, so just use something like freedoom and you should be fine

glad you got it working, it's a kickass mapset! after you play it, try Doom Zero or Struggle: Antaresian Legacy. the style of both of those mapsets reminded me of it (but struggle antaresian legacy also changes all the weapons so it's a bit different).
