DOOM II
Your favourite Doom-Engine games from best to worst.
Please. I'm curious. :)

You can take mods into consideration as well. Just don't forget to mention it if its the case.

1. Doom II (Because of mods.)

2. Ultimate Doom (Best paced levelpack solo experience split into 4 episodes.)

3. Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders. (Got a soft spot for it. All the weapons and the tome of power are freaking cool.)

4. Hexen + Expansion. (Mix about a nice amount of RPG elements to the Doom formula. Hub levels all connected. Hidden superweapon. What's not to love?)

5. Final Doom (More Doom... But nothing really new but the levels. I tend to completely ignore those in favor of Doom mods. Level design did improve a lot over the years and GZDoom is powerful enough for ambitious mods. It just cannot compete.)

6. Strife (Fun game but It's universe just ain't my style. Does not appeal to me that much.)

Well, my list: Doom II, Ultimate Doom, Final Doom, Heretic, Hexen and Strife. Do you consider megawads as mods too?

Any non-official added content can be seen as a mod by definition.

For official releases its a tie between Doom 2 and Ultimate Doom, as i love the new enemies in Doom 2 but prefer the levels in Ultimate Doom.

I love big atmospheric levels so my favorite megawads are stuff like Hellbound, Epic 2, Avactor, Back to Saturn X, Winters Fury and Eternal Doom.

For single level wads i love anything made by Lainos, who also focuses on big, atmospheric and sorta creepy levels.

GZDoom is a source port of the original Doom, not a standalone game.
