DOOM II

DOOM II

Game Completely Busted, Won't Play with DualShock 4, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong
I have The Ultimate Doom set up with ZDoom.exe replacing Dosbox.exe, and it launches fine via Steam. My DS4 works just fine with it. The controls are responsive, etc. I can play the entire game to completeion and I can remap the controls as I please.

DOOM II will not cooperate, no matter what I do. I cannot get it to launch with the regular install (it hangs at the title screen--I've heard this is a problem with the packaged version of Dosbox being outdated and not working on Windows 8.1), nor can I get my DS4 to work with any sourceport when launched via Steam. I have tried GZDoom, the final release of ZDoom, and Zandronum, all with no luck. At best, it'll work for the menu, with the D-Pad letting me navigate. But the X button is back and the Square button is accept, and when I enter into the game the controls are completely jacked up--the camera instantly starts spinning around and points at the ceiling. When I disable verticle aiming it still spins in circles to the right. When I hold L2 it goes to the left. All of the other controls are similarly broken or mapped incorrectly. Remapping them in game does not work, nor does changing the controller mapping in Big Picture mode. Even with the Steam controller mapping completely blank, the exact same thing happens.

It does not matter what controller settings I use in Steam or DOOM II itself. Nothing changes.

Similarly, I cannot get Brutal DOOM or any other Doom mod, conversion, etc. to work via non-Steam app launchers with my DS4.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there any solution? Is it just hopelessly broken? Am I making some obvious mistake?

Use ZDL. Or a similer launcher exe.

I have tried ZDL, and it didn't even register the DS4 at all. I may try RocketLaunch next.
