Is Doomworld A Safe and Trustworthy Source for Doom WAD's?
I'm very interested in getting my hands on some megawads to play, as I've already completed the base campaigns, Plutonia, and Evilution, but I'm not sure what the best place to find them is. I hear Doomworld recommended time and time again, but I want to get some clarification as to how trustworthy a source for downloads it is. If anyone on here has experience with Doomworld, I would love to hear your input.

Doomworld is very reliable. They're one of (if not the) oldest sites for Doom news, discussions, and downloading custom wads. You'll find over thousands of wads that Doom fans have created over the past 20+ years. The only downside is that it's very archaic to navigate through.

ModDB is another really good source for downloading wads.

Does it matter which download mirror I use to acquire mods? I. E. are all of them trustworthy and safe?

Yup, all are safe. If you're on ModDB however, it doesn't hurt to run your anti-virus software after downloading a mod. I can't say I've heard of instances where people have gotten viruses on there, but with any user-based site, it doesn't hurt to be extra cautious. I believe the administrators of the site are frequently checking new uploads to ensure that they're safe, plus users can report mods q:

Happy to help, my friend! Here's a few really good ones worth checking out:
Action Doom (basically Contra in first-person)
Army of Darkness TC
Batman Doom TC (there's also Batman Doom Reborn, which is a newer, enhanced version)
Brutal Doom 64 (I've never really had the chance to play Doom64, so I don't know exactly how accurate it is)
Brutal Wolfenstein 3D
Cold As Hell
Golden Souls & Golden Souls 2
Hell Revealed & Hell Revealed 2
Maps of Chaos (adds a lot of new rooms, demons, and secrets to Doom 2's base maps)
Paranoid (Half-Life Total Conversion)
Pirates! Doom
Project Remap
Rise of the Triad TC
Serious Sam Retro Encounter (short wad)
Scythe, Scythe 2, and Scythe X (very difficult)
WolfenDoom: Blade of Agony
