"JRPG"
Guys, you realize the "J" stands for Japanese?

This should be an SRPG or RRPG, Slavic/Russian RPG.

The game has nothing to do with Russia op. I genuinely hope that you are just very confused about history and not seriously believe that everything looking vaguely Eastern European is Russia.

As someone that loves JRPGs but is pretty cold on CRPGs, ARPGs, etc. I appreciate this usage of the tag. Maybe you could more accurately call them "console-style RPGs", but that's kinda confusing since it's on PC. The majority of beloved, formative RPGs on console were all Japanese anyway, so you kinda loop back around to justifying the J.

Everyone knows what to expect when you say something like "JRPG"—Final Fantasy Dragon Quest, etc. You can argue about it all you want, but those are an entirely different beast from the most iconic Western and PC RPGs like the Deus Ex, Elder Scrolls, the old Baldur's Gate games, etc. Totally different strengths and weaknesses, combat design, narrative and world design... If I mentioned that all my favorite RPGs were stuff like Wild Hearts or Shadow Hearts or Digital Devil Saga or whatever, and you were like, "Oh, you love RPGs? You should try Arx Fatalis," you'd be a moron.

For me JRPG is about the formula and tropes, In my opinion Kingdom Come Deliverance is also a JRPG

Utterly ridiculous take.

Clearly this is a soulslike metroidvania rogue-lite doom clone with JRPG elements

Very Lovecraftian and Kafka-esque response

I did a double-take when I read this, but for a slightly different reason... This game looks more like Ultima or Wizardry, it seems weird to describe those as J(apanese-style)RPGs but they were the inspiration for the original JRPGs (Final Fantasy etc.) so I can almost see why someone would call them that.

No Kingdom come Deliverance is a CRPG (computer rpg) that is opposed to jrpgs by the combat system which is direct, while a jrpg is mainly turn-based. This has been accepted since the advent of the first microcomputer. JRPGs were basically mainly console rpgs whose primary characteristic was, as they say, turn-based games. Where Strategy and instant action characterized the RPG on pc (as for the Ultima for example).

Both of course have character management and roles defined by them (mage/thief/warrior/healer)

So to identify what rpg is :

Turn-based rpg = J Rpg
Not Turn based rpg = Crpg

That the two gender in first.

So you're saying the gold box games and even a lot of the Ultima's are jrpg's then. Because they were turn based. That's the trouble with reductionism.
It serves the purpose of finding the niche though.

And the art style speaks for itself.

After that, any1 that buys this game is pretty much aware of what they are getting themselves into.
