meaning of "szivecske"

Jozef refers to several other characters by this. Based on what I've been able to find online, it seems to be some kind of term of endearment, but how would it be translated into english exactly? "heart-" something? And would a person, especially in Jozef's time, actually say this in the context he does or is it supposed to be goofy

Also it hints at him seeing everyone else as dumb kids, being the lord of the land.
