well, not really. what really made the game die is the learning curve. new players are getting destroyed by older players, and so the game isn't really fun to play when all you can do in pvp modes is dying, and for other modes such as Obstacle, the learning curve is also gigantic with hundreds of technics to master.
A Famous french Streamer, Zerator is a good friend of Nadeo's head Hylis, and so he tried on a few occasions to repopulate the game, and even rn his next big event includes Shootmania. So for some time there will be a big bump in the community, but then it will slowly decrease.
it's way more complicated to make this game big again x)
It won't slowly decrease, but will die as fast as people came on that game just for the event
