Are enemies supposed to not attack your or is this a bug?

I've noticed that none of the enemies in the game seem to actually attack the character, even if you get close to them. Are they supposed to not actively attack the player and only become hostile if you press E? Or is this a bug and their AI isn't working or activating?

That's normal. I reckon that only walking through the maps would take plenty of time, and if monsters will chase me... That must be very awful. lol

This can help we players to save some time I think, yet on the other hand, it's annoying we cannot know a monster's species until we start fighting.
