how do you install it on the steam version? is it written inside a readme?

You put all the files in a folder (named "z") in the folder "data" of the game, very simple.

Actually these are the correct install paths:

First:

Unzip 'CMBN Initial All In One'

Then:

Copy & Paste:

'zCMBN' folder into:

Steam\steamapps\common\Combat Mission - Battle for Normandy\Data folder.

Copy & Paste:

'Scenarios', 'Quick Battle Maps' & 'Campaigns' folders into:

Steam\steamapps\common\Combat Mission - Battle for Normandy\Game Files folder.

Putting these last three files into a 'z' folder does not work. Follow the above install and there is no need to create a 'z' folder at all.

I notice some of the mod files are zip files. Do I need to unpack those?

Yes, the game does not read inside .zip files.

In unpacking/unzipping, I receive an error message that the file is incomplete/corrupt. This has happened DLing from mutliple sources. Anything I can do?

No, the mods in CM are really just skinning. There are a few mods that change animation that can effect some things in a small way but you cannot re define vehicles stats, change weapons systems etc.

Great Mod that bring up the very best visuals/audio/sfx of CB. I used back in the day.
It's really too bad the we cannot play multiplayer (except by mail).
