Never heard of Grendizer before...
Though I wouldn't miss an episode of GOLDORAK when I was a kitten.
Yep, that's what it was called in France (and Italy, I believe).
Any other foreign name for this japanese character?

In the US he was a part of the Shogun Warriors toy line. He was Grandizer in the US after he was licensed.

In Spain, for some reason, Wikipedia says is known as Goldorak, but the series are officially called "La Guerra de los Ovnis", which could be translated as "The Ufo Wars".

On the other hand, the series dub called the titular robot "Grandizer", which is either a mispronunciation of Grendizer, or a name change to "Gran Dizer", which would be translated as "Great Dizer".
As another note, character names were the ones that suffered the most changes.
For example, Duke Fleed is now called Daniel, and Koji Kabuto is now called Carlos Caribe (despite being called by the right name in the original Mazinger Z dub).

Weirdly enough, in the Grendizer movies dub, character names were restored, so Duke Fleed is Duke Fleed and Koji Kabuto is Koji Kabuto, but Grendizer is now called something like "Grendís".

Not really... as far as i know.
Mazinger Z it's the famous one in Spain. Mazinger was such a massive hit that it even has a full-size statue in Tarragona.
Grendizer, unfortunately, is kind of unknown/forgotten. That the series were released in Spain, and with a castilian dub is more of a curiosity than anything else.
But weirdly enough, at the moment of writing this comment, i saw the news that the Grendizer manga has been licensed here... so maybe it's not as unpopular as i thought.

Grendizer in Russia, well, Грендайзер if you wanna be technical about it. Very popular in here of my age group (30-35) due to it being one of, if not, the first mecha to be aired on TV.

Damn, they give it to you a lot later than us in Canada. I saw that show almost 50 years ago.

Goldorak in Luxembourg, since we had the French TV channels (Luxembourg has like 1 real channel, tiny place). Since we also got German channels, I can state, they didn't have Grendizer or some other iconic 70/80 anime on their tv (ex. Saint Seiya). Also, French music themes were nearly always better than the German ones.
