Ice Cleats in other missions?

So you can activate the ice cleats in other missions (after you have obtained them).

But is there any reason to do so? I can´t find any differences in movement if they are active. The only place where they make a difference is Anteevy.

I can't speak for the remaster, but in the original game they very slightly affect deceleration when you stop walking.

Not in the base game. There are many mods that require you to get cleats.
