Maybe there will be a day that you can't Purchase the game anymore like alot of original games being replaced with a remaster. We don't have any details yet. But keep in mind that even if it is removed from Steam there are other store fronts one may purchase the game from.

Point is, Is if you like the game get it just in case. You don't know what will happen. I am sorry that i made people upset by the post but i was only trying to make sure people had the game. You get people like me wanting the game on steam later to play and can't because it's no longer sold on steam. Just wanted to give people a chance that's all.

By now Dark Forces 1 has already automatically become a very rare game

In fact, if you take a look on E-Bay and Amazon you will see that the prices for physical and boxed copies of Star Wars DF 1 are skyrocketing.

PS Oh and true I wanted to tell everyone that Dark Forces 1 is canon or connects to the film Rogue One.

Well it's normal that DF 1 Classic will be removed on Steam because when the Nightdive guys release the new remastered edition.

It will be like Quake 2 Remastered where you could choose in the mini window whether to launch Classic Quake 2 and its expansions Ground 0 and The Reckoning.

It's not. Rogue One (and Andor show) completely overwrites the little story this game has.

I still have the original CD for the Apple Mac version, probably even rarer. Played the life out of it back in the 90's on a Mac LCii at what must have been a pretty abysmal frame rate by today's standards, will be nice to try it again running on full spec.

I still own my boxed copy of the original. Interesting sidenote: there is a map image on the side of the box of a level that never made it into the final game. There was going to be a level involving stealing the Death Star plans aboard a Star Destroyer but it was deemed too difficult for a first mission, so it was cut.

Owned the game on Steam for a while. The Jedi Engine source port has made the game as good as the potential remaster for a while.
