Also is the stuttering happening only when you click the screen, or is it happening all the time?
We did hear from one user who ran the game directly from where it was installed instead of playing it through Steam itself, and that seemed to help with issues their PC was having (from your Steam Library, right-click on the game, choose Manage > Browse Local Files to see where it's installed, and run the game from that folder) - let us know if that makes any difference!
I tried manually lowering my desktop resolution to 1920x1080 and didn't see a change.
Running directly from the EXE didn't change anything either.
I'm a bit stumped.
Also if your PC or laptop has multiple video cards (or integrated graphics as well as a separate AMD/NVidia card), you may have to make sure your PC is using the higher-end/discrete video card for the game as well as everything Steam-related (Steam itself, gameoverlayui, Steam Client WebHelper, etc.). The game itself uses a discrete video card when available, but if you haven't configured Steam and all of its connected bits to also use that same video card, that might lead to some performance issues.
If you think it might be something video-card-related, you can try editing one of the game's files if you feel like diving into that: From the game's local files, open
META-INF/AIR/application.xml and find this line:
And replace it with this line to disable it:
With that line edited/disabled, it won't force the game to run on the high-end card, so it would just use the default of however your PC/laptop is configured then. Might be worth a shot in case the Steam services like the overlay are still using the other video card?
In that same file, you can also try changing the rendering system of the game to see if it makes a difference. Find this line:
And replace it with this:
In our own tests we found that "direct" mode would sometimes have better mouse sampling and in some situations better performance, but it could also cause performance issues and screen tearing on some video cards, especially at resolutions higher than 1080p.
Came back to say I tried the above and I still have the same problem. Makes my computer weirdly slow after closing too, which is kind of frustrating.
