They globally nerfed all Artillery and tried to replace all of it with copters.
First 15 missions you cannot use any vehicle
First 15 missions you cannot use any artillery
When you finally can use vehicles? Missions end too fast till 21 to even call down most vehicles, Most artillery are 1 use aswell.
Every other class gets cool stuff by this point and you're still dragging feet.
I know you cannot use "real" air strikes and whatnot in early game but the addition of the backpack slot and the advancements from 4.1 to 5 are my point.
Tourist? God, has that just become a buzzword for people you disagree with now? I've always played air raider and have several hudnreds of hours on each EDF game so ♥♥♥♥ outta here with that.
How dare I be happy that my class is getting more and more love every iteration (minus giving our railgun tanks and bikes to ranger, I'll never forgivbe that) when it gets absolutely butchered (and pretty much nonexistent) in their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ spinoffs.

You get the drones, thats your cool stuff.. Also, air raider has always been a chore towards the start of the game.
Arty being one use is good. Fencers and Rangers up in the heavy action get tired of being nuked into oblivion. I have a feeling the devs were trying to balance that somewhat.
Nixes with shoulder cannons, the higher-end Limpet Guns, numerous silly plans involving guiding missiles into the open door, etc. Your brain is your most important weapon as an Air Raider, use it.
you can do more damage in cave mission than just carry buff tower and ride deep crawler every time

They're the perfect fire-and-forget DoT weapon because, if you don't miss the tag, then they won't miss either.
On the first mission with dropships, you can just stick the Stun drones on it, focus on fighting the ads, and your drones will have the dropship dead in 2 salvos.
Yeah I was completely blindsided by the story. Wacky is a good way of putting it. I hit my limit too. Eyes got tired but it is fun. I'm not super far into the game yet but hoping it can feel more like EDF 6 and not just EDF 5.6. Still very much liking the extra slot for characters. Now if I could stop pressing the grenade button by mistake that would be super cool.
Sorry but this is retarded balancing. Drones are not good enough on their own to explain the nerfs and they don't hold up to Air Raiders standard Airstrikes. Who ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cares about cave missions when you get universally ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ worse in the missions that matter?
Nix + All credit buys got anywhere between 3x and 4x more expensive. Drone ministrikes are barely aimable because you get no birds-eye view and they "jump" a certain distance instead of scaling properly between movement. Limpet Guns are even worse now, same for Surpression Guns. Only 1 support slot means no vehicle inferno gameplay because you can't place guard + offense on the same vehicle anymore. You can't even take multiple roombas anymore.
Gunships - the AR bread and butter - reload 2x slower across the board as well.
Hopefully it will be fixed in a balance patch.
Oh yeah I got the shock drones at the end of my session yesterday and used it on the brain droid guys. Sniper drone was a godsend against the colonists too.
Ah I was not aware of the nerfs on the real gunships. Damn shame as they are my bread and butter. Always avoid using limpets and use gunship as main weapons in other games (well in 4.1 it's a bit more difficult as the beacons don,t stick)
I'll see for myself but yeah I played, what, 4 hours yesterday? and I'm doing hard right off the bat instead of building armor in normal.
Interestingly I didn't hit a wall like the mission with the mothership spawning an obsene amount of drones in edf 5
Or in 4.1 it was the one where the teleportation ships move in the valley and there are spiders everywhere.
Even the new brain android things were not enough to wall me.
