Are we really doing this?
EDF 6 is here, it's functional, it's fun. And yet all I see is utter vitriol and anger being flung out. I get that people don't like that they need epic games services, it's a annoyance especially if you didn't have the application prior. But what we're doing right now, trying to either make them remove it, which will abandon everyone who bought the game on epic or refund and boycott in mass is going to slaughter this series' one chance to finally break out of niche status.

People are already trying to twist the narrative to sound even worse than what it was, comparing it to helldivers and PSN, something that was super aggregious because they forced it in, MONTHS after people were playing it.

What the hell happened to no soldier left behind?

Could it be handled better? Of god dang course it can, hell it should be and we should be bringing it up, but what it's looking like right now to the outside public is that EDF 6 is an awful game, which anyone of us who's actually been playing can say it isn't.

Call it out yes, but for the love of everything let people know that there's an actual game underneath it all. That there's fun to be had, cause right now people aren't being told that, and we are dooming our games future

People don't agree with crating a third party account, they reviewd the game accordingly, there is no vitriol.

Just consumers exercising their right to review a product they bought.

The game is neither functional nor fun if I can't play it.
Tasolth Jul 25, 2024 @ 12:54pm
But it is an awful game. ANY low effort console port is automatically put in this category. And it is most certainly a low effort console port from all the in game problems I'm seeing from other sources.

I don’t see what problems people are having. I am playing on a Steam Deck of all things and it runs just fine. If I’m having no issues on low powered hardware on Linux, what are your issues?

Since online is an important part of this game and you definitely need to put this cheesy EGS and register there, and even link the account, and not just register, then this aspect is also included in the final evaluation of the game, so no matter how it was not optimized (no idea how there with this) and fun, EGS is already part of it and for this it can also be evaluated. After all, not all those who will be thinking of buying will want to register and put the EGS, so let them know and take it into account when thinking about buying. And also the price this time is inadequate - not worth it.

Well considering i could not even play single-player after uninstalling Epic Online Services from my computer, i can't do that. As it stands, it is a totally nonfunctional game that i cannot play.

Refund Requested.

"EDF 6 is here, it's functional, it's fun"

Yea, sure, but if the waiter shat in your soup before delivering it you wouldn't be like

"The soup is here, it's edible, it's nutritious"

You'd be outraged about the brown log in your soup.

And that is the right reaction. People preordered the game, I almost did, all without any kind of notice about Epic being necessary to play Online. And I am glad af I didn't preorder, because it is the most anti-consumer practice to not disclose that you need to go through multiple steps (Download, installing and creating a profile on Epic) before being able to use the multiplayer in this game.
I don't know about other regions, but you can't even buy EDF6 on Epic right now. So I'm not sure who the hell we're even crossplaying with.

keep in mind your defending a game who took 2 years to translate and didn't mention this requirement at all

I tried to see if the game was on the Epic store because that would explain the crossplay EOS software. But when I search, it says its only available on other stores. You can't buy it. Maybe they plan to add it later?

Does the multiplayer work on Steamdeck? I sure hope so because my kid only has a steam deck and we play lots together.

Hard to blame the steam crowd for doing what the steam crowd always does. This isn't new and the developers/publishers are more to blame for not reading the room and understanding their market than reviewers that purchased the game voicing their dissatisfaction, imo.
