So is Epic Games 270 million accounts just a lie?
Epic Games lately has been promoting to the public how successful their Epic Games Store platform is, so let see me here even if the game is on steam, you also need an epic account anyway because it uses Epic Online Services. Epic Games Store is no competition to Steam, it’s a wannabe monopoly on the PC market.

Imagine unironically calling epic games store a monopoly on the steam forums. My sides.

Considering how large the chinese populace is just as an example, I don't think it's a lie. Also they give a ton of free games and basically take a massive hit to try to get players over to their platform. I don't think it's working though. . .

Epics practices have been highly monopolistic basically putting "Exclusives" onto PC which hasn't been a thing in pretty much ever. If a third party game releases you expect for it to release on ALL platforms, not all platforms "except that one." Steam doesn't do that, and steam has competition being regular stores, GoG, Epic themselves, key vendors (steam accepts those keys btw that you buy at a MUCH cheaper price) etc.

A monopoly 😂 that’s Steam! No one else is allowed a store or launcher without the Steam fangirls crying

Uh, I have plenty of games on Ubis, a few on GoG, plenty on PSstore, some from Nintendo's, and the list goes on and on and on and on. This statement is literally not true at all. The problem is when you take third party games and try to make them exclusives on every other store. That's when it becomes an issue but lets just ignore that.

I don’t know dude. I have at least claimed over 400+ games since 2018 but the platform just doesn’t click for me at all. It’s very limited in features in comparison to steam. Epic Games even remove the ability to chat to your friends and you can’t even customise your profile picture.

With the millions they made from fortnite, I wish they would use that funds to upgrade the platform instead of just focusing on free games.

As of this writing this reply, they don’t even have a download manager for your games, so you better hope you download the smaller size games first.

Here's why they have that many users.

Fortnite.

That's it, that's the only major thing driving account creation.

Yea, I have claimed a lot of games as well but I have never installed their launcher, ever. And the games are pretty much on my amazon account, not an epic store account too.

The main contributor and also including Genshin Impact as well since they also use Epic Online Payments System on Epic Games Store lol. :auimp:

Yeah, they count created and also linked accounts to inflate their numbers. All to manipulate the stock markets and investors. It's a simple tactic to usually try to get more money invested into them. Not to say that those numbers are faked, Fortnite and other EGS games are genuinely popular but they do these things for other reasons beyond flexing.

That's only if you run Genshin through the Epic launcher, and I'm not sure why you'd want to do that. Star Rail is the one that wants you to log in to Epic even if you're not getting to it from there.

well, considering egs itself isnt installed nor does the game care if you have a proper account it creates some rando account with your steamname and your chosen birthdate... no visible background app, maybe when checking details but its barely noticeable ... so yeah they like actively create fake-accounts for egs network. hurray egs new user record xD
