Data files required to start Earth Defense Force 6 are missing

Solution is as follows.

Uninstall Epic Game Store.
Uninstall Epic Game Services.

Launch EDF6.
It will reinstall EGS dependencies.
It should run after that.

I then reinstalled EGS after all that. It works fine.

If you are still having problems check out a program called RevoUninstaller.
Use it to uninstall everything and remove hidden leftovers the normal uninstall does not remove.
Then, reinstall everything starting with EDF6 > Run the game to see if it works > install EGS and run to see if it works.

Delete the downloaded files and try again. Sometimes errors happen and it's the only way to fix it.

I only got that when I didn't let it install the Epic Games part before boot-up, thinking it would try to force their store on my PC.

They will also want an EGS account for multiplayer.

I didn't "not let it" do anything I just installed it.

If you've tried that and it still didn't work then that means someone made an oopsie and didn't include the correct files and someone is probably going to be going to the office to have a *cough* performance meeting *cough*

Same, I didn't block anything from running. Get the error trying to launch.

I found a fix that may work. It looks like my antivirus (Avira) flagged an Epic Store installation file. It may be worth checking out your antivirus quarantine and restoring.

My friend had exactly same error code. he updated epic store client manually. and then when he started EDF6 on steam it installed epic games service (unsure if it was a newer version or not) and the game started up

I wouldn't say that antivirus is bad it just depends on which one you have. I use bitdefender and it's not invasive at all. It's purpose is to stop malicious programs from running in the first place. Windows Defender doesn't really do that.

I found the fix. Go to your programs and features. Uninstall EpicOnlineServices. Next go into the EDF 6 Folder, go to the Epic games online service folder and launch that installer. I think having an older version of the EpicOnlineServices installed causes the issue. It won't check the version and then will fail due to it not being compatible.
