thats cus EDF 4.1 had been out on PS4 for like..4 years before they ported it to steam, it was the first time in forever an EDF game had a PC port and it was an experiment to see if it would sell well enough on the PC, and it sold enough they started porting all future games to PC too, and there really hasnt been any problems since!
also EDF 5 released on steam at the same time as consoles, so you only saw that price gap due to how old EDF 4.1 was at the time of its port
Has nothing to do with the game being old. EDF5 released on Steam 1.5 years after Japan PS4 release and half a year after Worldwide PS4 release, still 60$ but decent regional prices.
EDF6 released 2 years ago in Japan, and they're selling it for 4x the price of EDF5 or 2x the recommended Steam price in my region.
tbf days when many releases didnt come to PC are gone. even Sony releasing their games on PC. i mean, yeah, some exclusivity here and there, but nothing that big.
and its not just about being fullprice, but regional pricing really gone crazy due $ having bad time last few years. i mean, look how much crying spread when some games go from 60$ to 70$ since 2020 and thats basically just 16% price increase. now imagine all those regions with 100-250% price increase. they have right to be angry. many publishers just out of touch. and whats ridiculous - valve have good expert in economics and they already calculated proper regional pricing. but they choost to ignore this. even though proper regional pricing is MAIN reason why Steam become most popular PC platform in first place.
thus why you see EDF 6 being in top 10 only in USA and EU. i guess overpricing is better than low sales, lol.
Just says how easy ppl are to scam.
Most ppl screaming out their fun on a review mostly dont play that long. Ye fill your adhs and then move on but dont forget to pay full price for a dlc :D
the lowest effort main game was World Defense Force without a doubt. Its literally a hasty remake of Monster Attack that mostly focuses on trying to make it more playable and adds the proto wingdiver.
It came out so fast after Monster Attack that they didn't really have time to do anything else.
I would say that the second lowest effort in terms of features and stuff is 2017 because it was just a full realization of monster attack, and 2025 was just a full realization of World defense force, and 4.1 was just a full realization of 2025.
5 was the first one that wasn't just trying to fully realize a past product, and 6 is the first of the 2 part cycle this game goes through that follows that... these are the highest effort EDFs we've ever seen with EDF 5 and 6 without a doubt, and to say any different is just to admit you really dont' know the series.
to be fair we all love EDF and are excited to play tonight and/or tomorrow for some of them (only me and 1 other are proper night owls so the others get to wait a little bit longer)
then you actually proved my point more... it was the least effort main game, and yeah i always mess up the name of that game, i also always mess up 2025 cause my brain remembers it as 2021 for some reason lol
(but also i thought the actual dev cycle for global defense force was very short and not the 3 years between it.)
not really. i mean, yes EDF 2 was lowest improvement in main series before EDF 6, but at least its improved engine. EDF 6 didnt such either
PC port of EDF 5 came out 8 months after consoles in the west. not sure in other regions.
