Yes. It has more to do. But I think descenders is what inspired this game to be made.
The mass races are messy, but VERY fun. The map is HUGE with plenty to explore and lots of secrets to find. The MMO aspect is a very cool concept. There is a campaign and a TON of different races and challenges around the map.
Ultimately, Riders Republic is worth your time if you were questioning whether or not to get it, but do no expect Descenders gameplay. It is on a different level for sure. Now the ultimate question: "Is it funner than Descenders?" I had a lot of fun with Descenders...and I mean ALOT of fun, but the content is limited in comparison. I think the pure adrenaline of racing against others, and the wide variety of things to do ultimately make Riders Republic funner. Hope that helps.
