Make PS5 controller work?
Pretty sure I played the beta with one, steam input override doesn't seem to work either.

It does work for me, I didnt even have to do anything new my DInput controller works perfeclty like any other
and I have something useful to say, it being Dinput controllers being natively supported by steam now once you configure them in Big pictures mode, that feature has only been there for 4-5 years
many people are not aware of that and not only recently I have seen people recommending 3rd party Xinput converter software for steam games
this might ahve been the same case here especially seeing some people reporting DS5 controllers working for them

I'm glad it's working for you, but once again, you're acting like me and the other folks here reporting problems are stupid and don't know how to configure controllers. Bottom line, there's something broken between Steam and this game, maybe not for everybody, but apparently for a lot of folks.

I tried an Xbox controller today and experienced more issues while trying to start the game through Steam. Controller works fine in Big Picture mode, but when you start the game it appears that Steam isn't communicating with the game and "releasing" the controller, as the controller will only open the keyboard and other bindings that are associated with big picture mode. I close Steam and start the game via the exe and the Xbox controller works fine (but not the PS controller due to not having native Windows support).

So, for those having issues, it appears you have the following choices:
1) Use an Xbox controller, exit from Steam, and start the game via the .exe
2) For the PS controllers - Close Steam, use DS4Windows and start the .exe
3) Wait for an update to fix the disconnect between steam and RR

I can't get my PS4 controller to work either. Detected in steam but not in game. This will be a refund if they don't fix it soon.

Found a temp fix if you open the exe directly it seems to pick up the controller `SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\RidersRepublic\RidersRepublic.exe`
I tried adding it as a non-steam app but it stopped working so you need to click on it directly
You can add it as a non steam app but make sure to disable steam inputin the manage settings

if you configure your controller in big picture mode every Dinput controller should work natively like an Xinput
this sounds like user error

You're user error, it doesn't work in big picture or any thing that interacts with steam normally. Try it

Any tricks or is it working natively in Steam? My controller works fine in every other Steam game and in Epic games, so this is apparently an issue with RR.

Mine is working fine. Bought the game on Steam. Not sure why it's working for some people and not others.

Bro getting most of my steam games to work seems to be a labour when it comes to my ps4 controller and normally I don't care bc I just KBM it but driving games are just a controller thing for me so to say I'm kinda over steams issues with this is an understatement.

you can always use ds4windows, not sure on its compatibility with ds5's though.

I was really hoping not to have to resort to that again because the controller is finally connecting to my pc without DS4windows.

And in truth, I've found a workaround for most other problems.
I just don't understand why the problem is always with Steam.

My controller doesn't work as well. I put it in big picture mode (or whatever it's called) and the controller works for that but once I start the game up, the game acts like it's not even there. I tried to play kb+m but feels so awkward.

I just looked at the official website and they don't mention PS4 or PS5 controllers as being supported for the PC version. Only Xbox and generics. How hard can it be for them to code in PS support given the game was released on PS5?

You just have click the exe directly instead of opening it up through steam and it works perfectly
