Catapult and Trebuchet are to expensive for what they do... Low Dmg (maybe 0,2sec stun) and way to long reload! And u can´t see the Stats!!
Crossbow is ok, give him lvl 2 with then 3 arrows and the +1 additional hit relic and he can Hit 4 up to 6 Enemys at same time (better then shamane/shooter/Hobbit) in Dmg/sec and it cost only Wood
Who cares Random you need to Kill all Enemys anyway so it doesn´t matter, if the Enemies are so close to ur Crossbow man that it would matters, then u have already to low Dmg in Army and have to die in next 2 days...
Particularly if u are above Curse 2 like me
I finished Curse 3 tonight with 127 Glory and its hard... I found out by calculating 135 is max Glory there so u need to finish Curse 4 Perfect with 2-3 "Monster at Night Events" for getting hopefully 150+ Glory for next Path/Street in Kingdom
but looking at him shooting not at enemies 9 out of 10 times is so frustrating to look at
and if it counts he miss allways
from the damage done in one round he sure is in the top spots all the time
balistas on the other hand allways last and second last = useless

im not talking about the balistas, they are kinda garbage, but the crossbow is op ( I was laughing at this useless unit at the beginning too, but he is kinda the strongest unit in game
oh! i never thought about this. there are so many things that only effect shielded units.
Upgrade him for wood (best aviable resource in the game) and see him rule the
battlefield while rising in level.
Just finished a curse 2 run. Lev. 5 X-bow did 62,2% of all damage followed by lev 5 Runescript who did 16,3% (thanks to boni vs. wet targets)..
i know that
but he also allways fail when it counts
he shoot a the moon for no reason while having a monster 1 m away from him
right now crossbowman is an absolute requirement due to being the highest dps
that alone makes it not great, since it isn't even a choice - you have to get it
You'd grab him regardless, as he's essentially free, and a day 1 purchase, same with the fighter, there's no reason not to have both of them in every run.
u dont want close combat in this game at all
Maybe, but close combat will happen, and his sword hits harder then any hired unit will (I saw mine nail that spider boss for a hit of 200ish damage earlier(unsure if it was a crit or not))
Personally I've not reached the point where I can start with the two gold bars yet, so that's not an option from where I'm sitting, and by the time you can afford the portal, it's too late to bother with another hire, they'll be far too weak to be useful.
it took a bit to get to the point where i could afford the 2nd hero, but i can do it by:
- starting with 2 workers (via the world upgrade)
- starting with 4 wood (via resource caches)
- starting with 4 stone (via resource caches)
- starting with 2 gold nuggets (via resource caches)
- starting with 3 food (2 via the orbs, 1 from fish)
- starting with 2 wheat (via resource caches, but not important - i wish i could destroy them and get gold nuggets instead :( )
after starting the game, if there isn't a great location for woodcutter and goldmine (very close to resources), i restart
after starting the game, i immediately pause, upgrade storage at the castle, build a tavern, build a woodcutter, build a house, put all workers on wood, get the +5 wood
i focus wood until i have 5 workers
i get just enough stone to upgrade storage again
i'll get the crossbowman
i get sawmill, get exactly 2 planks
i build gold mine, focus on that and stone
i get smelter, then put all workers on gold (and as much food as necessary)
this makes it barely possible to upgrade the starting hero once and afford to buy a 2nd hero
i'll then focus on upgrading the crossbowman
i'll then focus on getting walls
i'll then focus on getting the tower
i'll then focus on getting the priest
all the food is gone by now
i'll then focus on getting beer

this seems ideal, but it still just flat out doesn't work sometimes. i don't know what else could possibly be better.
