What is the point of the parallel runways in San Francisco?
The game calls it game over when you try to use both of them. I thought using both of them is the whole point of having more than one in the first place?

In fact, the parallel runways in San Francisco aren't independent. So, in real life, two planes can't takeoff or land simultaneously on both runways.
This configuration is usfull in real operations to prepare a plane to takeoff during the landing of another. But you can't manage this in the game.

To be considerate independant, to runways should be separate by 760 méters.

That is interesting to know, thank you :)

But planes at SFO do land on both runways simultaneously. Also take-offs at the same time. And I have seen cases where 1 plane lands while another is taking off on the parallel runway

My bad, you're right. There are some cases where the landing is possible simultaniouly. It depend of the nationnal regulations, the weather, the type of final approach procedure and the plane's precision capabilities.

Too much different cases. I suppose the dev need to use a more generic rule. :-)

it's very common, basically daily. the pilots are well aware of their location because they're sharing the same frequency when doing a parallel landing and are spaced slightly enough from each other

Agreed, just got to SFO and was disappointed there was no parallel landing / take-off.
