ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE

ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE

Return the Ace Style System
It was a great feature that I really enjoyed from "Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan". Or a similar system.

What was this system like again? Been a while since I've played Zero.

it was a gauge system between mercenary, soldier and knight

if you killed only hostile/enemy targets you'd be a knight
if you killed some disabled/civilian targets your rank would go down to soldier
and if you killed all disabled/civilian targets your rank would go down to mercenary

depending what your rank is it changes the layout of the mission.

+ it also applies some changes to the video segments too.
I don't think they can hit on and handle multiple paths with different ace squads anymore
Yes, please bring that back. There's a reason why AC Zero was the best AC Game. Not expanding on that system into AC6 and beyond was always a mistake.

Was it?

Keep in mind that Cipher was supposed to be a mysterious ace to all but those who were fighting alongside him, especially since the cutscenes outside the missions were themed around a fictional documentary trying to piece together what he was and his role in the Belkan War. Also helps that he's a merc with (depending on the playstyle) varying reasons for why he's on the battlefield.

Same with the enemy Ace squadrons that appear depending on said style: tney have their own reasons.

That's why the Ace Style is more appropriate for Zero but not almost every other game. The conditions were better suited there.
We need fresh new ideas, not retreads.
