I didn't play this when it originally came out, although i have played later ones, I would of liked if they had made the campaign map 3D, so the 2D map will take getting used to, but a minor gripe =) I'm looking forward to all the events they are adding and the officer variety.
On my wishlist over half and year
I hope it will give them the message to let them know their modern game comes with bunch of stuff we don't want.
Koei games are like Legos to me. They are just a toy set with a theme. Most of the entertainment I get is the story that I come up in my head with the tools Koei gives me. Their games really don't need a Remake, because it's not like they have gameplay that is so great it needs to be preserved, or they come up with original story that people are dying to re-experience them.
Their game became a problem for me because when they make a sequel, they add something new and different (different, but not necessarily better), while removing good stuff i liked. Their modern games became a toy set with a lot of stuff i don't like, and missing a lot of stuff i used to like.
Remake is a good way to reset that toy set, back to the days when it contained lots of pieces that people liked, and not containing lots of things people disliked. If they can learn from this, I can look forward to the games they make in the future.
But Koei is always great at taking the wrong message. My fear is that rather than learning from this, they will just think attaching the word Remake sells well, and start remaking their older games with their modern approach. Not learning why people wanted remakes in the first place.

Where are you seeing this?
Edit: Not in the US market, but that really isn't a surprise.
However, in Japan it is currently ranked #4. There's hope.
As for USA, I highly doubt large % of my fellow countrymen has even heard of Romance of The Three Kingdoms.
Edit: Thanks, I see it now, #21. Very nice!
I wonder how many of us like A Song of Ice and Fire though...
