And a manual is not that much helpful, because you have to do something with arrow-keys(D-pad) when you grab the enemies, For example, You can use multiple valley hits when you grab and [↓+shot] if you use kunoich.
Also, if you use →+jump toward to enemy, hold attack and use ← button against enemy when you hits, You can chain attack again and again.
(This is an example for my run on stage 6 with kunoich)

I feel the balance in original game is better.
Ninja has answer for every situation.
Hitomi tanaka is also stronk
Yaksha
The game already has individual rankings per character, I definitely have never been able to push Ninja very well. He takes some creativity even if he has some really silly/powerful and simple solutions to certain bosses. He can pretty much do anything most other characters can do, often times better. I just doubt the game is going to change, and in terms of immediate utility there's still some skill cost to what Ninja has to do to replicate what other characters can do in series of inputs.
I find the other characters suit my limitations/style more, and that's just something people like to pretend doesn't exist in players. Also the idea that, gasp, your character may be a lot simpler than you realize when you really start going after faster times.
Hell, my issue is that time attack can really come down purely to luck and it's just not this game's strong point even though it's completely designed around that.
Ninja is a pile of garbage for roughly 90% of the game and he's insanely hard to use. He's also insanely gimped in a lot of the boss fights, save for the very final boss where he literally dominates it and makes a laughing stock of the other characters throw mechanics.
The other two new characters are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ memes... like good luck mastering that trash... they're not even worth the effort.
I mean, but Ninja is the speedrun king in this game.
But yeah, every other character is mechanically different.
