No, but its an updated version of it though with 2 new unlockable characters (for a total of 5 playable), updated graphics for the characters, backgrounds, enemies and bosses. And also 2 player co-op (but shares the same healthbar).

Mechanics are greatly expanded too with new moves and a juggle combo system. Even though the page calls it a "remaster" it is more of a full remake.

It's even better than the SNES version!

It's the same game, but expanded and improved. Redrawn sprites, many more frames of animation, expanded moveset and new characters.

gameplay is expanded to wide-screen, more reminiscent of the arcade original

It's about as big of a jump as the SNES game was compared to the arcade game.

SNES' version is a remake of Arcade's version. This one is just an expanded remaster.

It's a remaster-remake of the original game. Graphically-wise they look almost the same, but the mechanics are greatly improved and there are 2 more playable characters. If you liked the SNES game, you will like this one. For me it's not a bad game, but I prefer other beat'em ups where you are not limited to move just left and right. Also I miss more moves variety on characters, specially grabs.

It's more remake than remaster, if you ask me.

Yeah, pretty much. Full remake, since this is not just upping resolution with some QOL, it's fully remade assets with a big overhaul to combat mechanics and extra characters.

Upping resolution would be only HD remaster. But this is just replacing assets with better ones and expanding mechanics. Therefore this one is just an expanded remaster.

If you guys want to argue this, then we should establish definitions for remake, remaster and reboot.

It is basically a PixelArt Remake of the SNES game with cool stuff added in. Played this to death on the PS4. It is the best version of this game.

Very similar to Wild Guns.

The difference between Saviors and the SNES Warriors is like comparing the original Street Fighter II game to Super Street Fighter II Turbo. It isn't a sequel or reboot but also not a carbon copy of the SNES. It's the same basic game, story, soundtrack, and characters but the gameplay is enhanced with a few extra characters and moves. The levels themselves are the same as the SNES but the play mechanics are altered with new moves and enemy AI so it does feel different and not just a straight port with better graphics and sound. They didn't massively overhaul the visuals to HD so it is still pixelized 2D sprites. They just added a lot more detail to what was already there. For this reason, I'd say it's a remake of the SNES but not a reboot.

I think the SNES version was more of a reboot of the arcade version to the point where they have completely different gameplay, soundtrack, and levels but still have the same story. It wasn't a sequel so much as alternate version for a different platform.

Some things overlap each other between remake, remaster and reboot.
But this game is still an expanded remaster.
SNES' game is a remake of Arcade game.
Remake: The same game remade from scratch.
Remaster: The same game but slightly improved, usually with better options.
Reboot: A revival of a series but with an altered plot and/or gameplay, essentially a brand new game with a new storyline and a few elements from the original

SF games back in the day were just revisions. Nowadays we get them through updates.
