I wish the game would save progress inbetween stages
Okay so, finally a Natsume game that is not gimped by horrible controls.

What really drags it down is that it needs to completed in a single session. The gameplay doesn't have enough depth to keep my interest for longer than ten minutes, and it would have been ideal that I could exit the game at will and resume when I'm in the mood.

But, no dice. Natsume REALLY needs to understand that their target audience aren't 14 year olds with afternoons to burn on playing videogames anymore.

You can level select.

Also, you can clear the entire game in under an hour:

The game does technically save your progress, cause the first time playing the PC/Steam port on a fresh new save (or the console ports as well) still saves your progress and/or unlocks. Also, you can continue infinitely, the only progress you lose is your total play time, as you have to do it on a single life/credit. (Though this only affects playing the main game mode, which does last around an hour or less if you're fast enough.)

But yeah, you can play any stage (as a time attack stage) after you finish the game once.

Bro an entire playthrough is not that long. Skill issue honestly.

Hey can we get an Upon death the timer stops and your char drops from ceiling killing everything on screen effect.
How about an option to switch chars mid battle. and when you do that the new one drops killing everything on screen effect. that way you can two button to victory.
Why even bothering playing a game for 10 mins. just watch load screens or flip through steam cue.

Old school games take old school skill and the dreaded word no kid today has.
that infamous word that stalls self gratification and holds us all back from being the masters of the universe we think we are.

Patience..... yea i said it. I feel most of you cringe seeing its imposing letters arranged in the evil of Satan himself making.

It's not a skill issue, I can handle the difficulty just fine.

Like I said, I've had enough Ninja Saviors after about ten minutes. Walk, punch, walk, punch punch. I'm not exaggerating a whole lot here, am I?

So, after about a stage or two, it stops being fun for me. I wish I could put it aside and resume later. Presumably wanting to do this should be a source of shame, according to some in this thread.

My goodness. I play games for fun, not to compensate for the lack of a satisfying love life.

You should know that you can pause and check the manual, and it shows you the move list of the different character. If you are just walking and punching instead of using dashes and their full list of attacks, then that is on you.

aka a skill issue

BAck in the days if you didn't have time to play, you just turned the console off and started from the beginning OR you left the console on and continued later. That's how you got skill. Trough repetition. We didn't have any more time back then.

It seems that you are not the target audience.
I mean, I get it. Saving your progress means that you can actually see the ending. Some people don't have this concept of "play" where you're playing a game to experience certain outcomes. The thing about just doing time attack is that, gasp, you don't see the ending so there's no real satisfying conclusion, you're just playing to the timer.

However, because you're calling Wild Guns Reloaded a game with "terrible controls" I think the monkey's paw outcome is truly fitting here!

I cut my gaming teeth on the NES, mostly. I managed to 1CC games on my first try I can't finish the first stage of anymore.

Obviously I like Ninja Saviors enough to buy it at full price, not refund it, and put in some effort voicing my complaints. As with Wild Guns Reloaded and Pocky & Rocky Reshrined.

I think you're getting exactly what you wanted. Congratulations on getting the arcade experience finally, because the NES didn't take quarters you weren't technically 1CCing anything, that's arcade vernacular! And now you got a game that's prioritizing speed running and "arcade experience", which is why you have to beat the WHOLE game to see the ending.

You got your clout, you got your teeth cut meal... you got everything you wanted. Peace.

Absolutely a skill issue. If you can't be bothered to play this more than 10 minutes, that's on you. Again, you can get through this game in about an hour. You don't have an hour to play? Good luck in any game, bro.

Lol. Lmao, even. With your attention span I doubt you can satisfy anyone.

Counterpoint: an hour is absolutely ages for any arcade-style game, and beat-'em-ups have always been the worst offenders for outstaying their welcome. I say this as someone on their third or fourth Hard mode 1CC at the moment, and as someone who will go to bat for this game: an option for casual players to continue their games later on wouldn't have hurt anyone (especially as the checkpointing upon continuing still forces you to learn the game).

I like how rather than actually making the game engaging, we're just asking for band aids. I can think of a number of things I'd change about the game, and when we admit "It could be shorter, maybe just being able to put it down and come back later" is the most milquetoast, uninspired suggestion. My god lmfao.

I didn't suggest changing anything about it, though. A feature that would allow someone else to enjoy it at no cost to myself? Who cares?

Anyone who thinks the game isn't engaging shouldn't be playing it - that wasn't the claim I was responding to, nor was I joining any chorus calling for 'improvements' on here.
