Can you not unlock characters without buying?

As title says is there anyway to unlock characters past the 2 free ones you get from the tutorial ? or is buying with the premium currency the only way?

There is synthesis where you craft using soul essence for 10k coins. I need to see an example though for myself.

you need the soul essence and 100 ether. i just got nyx.

finish tutorial. then you get some characters

You can buy at store the character souls with normal coins from games. Then you go to the forge and create the character using essence. So you don't need real money. But I know, the game is very confuse.

Hello! You can obtain new Calixers for free!

1. Earn Gold by completing various missions and using Twitch Drops.
2. Obtain Ether by completing missions.
3. Go to Store > Calixer tab > purchase Soul Fragment with Gold.
4. You can combine the Soul Fragment and Ether to create Calixer in Synthesis menu.

Another tip to earn gold is to complete all the tutorials!
Tutorial 2 and 3 even gives 2 free Calixers!
