TrackMania² Canyon
Why does Canyon drive like 4WD and Valley drives like RWD?
This bugs the crap out of me. Valley cars are over-sensitive to throttle, especially in turns... kind of like RWD muscle cars. In Canyon, the cars have a really stable drift, almost like a 4WD rally car! Considering Valley is supposed to be off-road rally type racing, and Canyon is on-road muscle car racing, it seems like Nadeo got the two completely backwards. Thoughts?

Yes Nadeo are complete idiots to be honest and the entire trackmania series is a bloody mess, but even tho it's a wreck of a game i still enjoy it,best not to think too hard about this game and just play and enjoy it while you can as most of the game makes no sense, you would think after the original trackmania series being broken up into many parts that don't work nadeo would have unified the entire game and then charged as dlc for more background themes and car handling models but this would seem far too easy even when fans have asked for this since the begining of the series.
Its called different gameplay mecanics. Trackmania is an arcade game, not a simulator. They made 7 diferent enviroments with 7 different car handling modes. Just it. No bugs. No idiot developers.
trackmania 1 - 7 enviroments and 7 car handeling types, some of the enviroments have specific road type that makes up a gameplay machanic but they are all pish apart from stadium, look at gameplay footage on youtube to see for yourself if you have never saw trackmania 1,this is in regards to trackmania 2,three enviroments, three gameplay types and three different car machanics (i would have much prefered the stadium car in all three gameplay types for trackmania 2 but canyon is still fun, valley isn't as good.

The developers Nadeo are money grabbing fools, trackmania 2 could have been much better if it was streamlined,i would have prefered to have the complete builder set and pay more for the game, then pay less for enviroment packs, all of this with the same gameplay engine taken from stadium as it's the most strait forward and natural control system.

canyon car is too fast, handling is a bit bonkers when you are driving fast and the car can flip quite easily, there is a silly fov (field of view) setting on the canyon car to make it look like you are going faster than you actually are and it's apparent and not soo good looking, there is no sound effect on the canyon car for some reason, there is however a road/tarmac sound but this isn't good enough.

I can't be arsed going over my point as to what nadeo are all about but i will say still that trackmania is a very fun game, stadium is in my opinion the best of the three but i really do enjoy canyon and the canyon track editor is in a way better than the stadium editor but you can do alot less with it,another thing about stadium is that you can really change the look AND feel of the tracks with the editor but in canyon you are pretty much stuck to two types of race type, flatout race like outrun, need for speed or stunt based short tracks, this is no bad thing but it's already a possibility in stadium,i just don't see the point of canyon or valley, the editor should be a constant upgrade from nadeo and gameplay types could be dlc as well as enviroments, this would have been the best way to do it.

With all that said, nadeo have been here before with trackmania 1,so why did they stick to the same fomula instad of building on what they know and incorporate everything into one game and with that thought i say they are simply trying to get new money for old shoes, doesn't matter tho as i love trackmania for what it is,an online arcade racing game to kill some time so have fun with it before it dies off,it can't see a trackmania 3.
Ignoring Paddy, Trackmania is not a simulator. It makes no claims to be realistic in any way. You're driving on walls, through loops, and making 180 degree turns at impossible speeds. Frankly, the only 'reason' why it is that way is because... it looks cool.
Trackmania was never meant to be considered a simulator at any point.
Naedo aren't money grabbing tools. Granted there are new additions to the game I don't agree with, but the basic TM formula is still here and I like that. IMHO it feels more like Island than anything else.

Naedo have never tried to sell DLC of any kind to players mainly because everyone could just re-create it and distribute it. If you're looking for other car handling models however try Trackmania United Forever.

Absent engine noise is an issue with most gamers, if you turn sounds down to Medium that fixes it, and if you're not happy with said sounds you can download and use another skin with custom sounds.

If you want a simulator then play something else.

Agree canyon does feel more like island, also i have read that alot are having the same problem with sound,i have this issue on stadium as well, turning it down to low fixes it for a while then the sound disapears again.

No one here is saying TM is a simulator lol that's crazy ! but my point is that stadium feels way more natural in terms of physics,i love stadium but i can't see the real point of splitting the game up into canyon and valley when both are the less of the three, anyway as said enjoy the game for what it is.
The splitting is to work alongside other Maniaplanet games like Shootmania and when it eventually comes out Questmania. The idea is a platform they can add more TM flavours to in the future. It's also easier if they release them seperately than try to make TM2 United without a clue on what the next enviroment is going to be.
