Controller problems in the UI
So I'm able to get my controller working fine in-game but it doesn't work properly in the menus. Some of the menus work correctly but once I'm at the track selection grid, the game no longer recognizes directional input so I'm forced to use my mouse to choose a track.

I didn't have this problem in the non-Steam version of Canyon but I can't get Canyon or Stadium to work properly in Steam. I checked the input configuration screen but it doesn't say anything about menu controls.

edit: It seems that I have the same problem with the keyboard. Input is fine up until the cursor moves into the track selection grid, then I'm forced to use the mouse or press the Back button to go back to an earlier menu. Sounds like a bug to me. Is this happening to anyone else?

I have the same problem, there are certain things that I just have to use the mouse to navigate. Even when the official race menu comes up during training trials, I can't go up or down so have to reach for my mouse. I'm a sad panda in this regard.

At least I'm not the only one.

I've been playing Trackmania with a controller for years. Even though it's not a very good way to go through the menus, I'd still like the option. Please fix.

The keyboard doesn't let you choose between training and an official race when you respot - which is quite annoying.

Yes I noticed last night when playing with keyboard, out of the blue, that the same places I had trouble with the controller are not navigable with the keyboard either. I think the ManiaPlanet UI just needs to be caught up to speed to not require mouse for navigation.

I don't recall having such trouble before so I wonder if its been broken in the current maniaplanet beta.

This issue is actually logged in the bug tracker forum earlier today. :) Not sure if one of you guys did it or not? But someone has made them aware of it anyway!

ive a similar problem. the mouse takes focus over the gamepads cursor. also, why can't i use my xbox pads triggers as accellerate/brake?

You can use the triggers. You must go in to controls and set the binding for accelerate or decelerate analog (it's separate from the normal accel/decel). If you set either by squeezing the trigger, it will also mark the other.

However, I've set both triggers and buttons, and I like the buttons under my thumb more for responciveness.

On xbox 360 controller, if you set the triggers to accel/brake you can't drift using the triggers, in order to brake you have to let go of the accelerate trigger first. i.e. only one trigger recognized at a time and using (default) left shoulder button to brake while using trigger to accellerate makes you stop accellerating after using the button to brake

Yeah /: If you want to compete with gamepad, you have to accelerate/brake with buttons not triggers ;(
