Some newb questions
Hey,

I just started with TrackMania and would like to ask some newb questions:

1. What's the differences between Dedimania Records, Local records and MX Records? I do often see the lists being all the same.

2. What can I spend planets for? Is it even good for anything?

3. Even though I have made records I am not listed in the maps Dedi ranklist(the one on the left). Is it only top 100 or something?

4. How is the rank calculated? How do I increas in rank and how do I decrease?

5. What does "average echelon on server" mean?

Hi and welcome :)
Local records is on a local machine or server only. MX records are records anybody can upload
to maps stored there (MX= maniaexchange). And Dedimania is a live record system for maps on servers.

You can spend planets as donation on servers you like, for mods/skins/title packs, and if you have enough, for your own servers (one part as deposit, and another part for the planet tax).

Yes, the dedi ranklists can only show a reduced amount of records, usually the first 25 or so players. It depends on the plugin and on the space that is used to show the records.
And the Dedimania system might also restrict the usage, they want some donation.

There are many ranks, which rank are you talking about?
LP rank calculation is not really known, but it depends on your actual rank and how often / how good you were driving on each map. A older description / explanation you will find here: https://forum.maniaplanet.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=16439&p=153143#p152377

The echelon is a gradual rank display. It was added to Maniaplanet to give some additional comparison level. The basic idea was that good Trackmania players migth also have good skills in other Maniaplanet games.
In the top echelon (9) there are only the best players, rank 90k or above.
And in the echelon 0 all those who have low rank.
"number of players per echelon depends of the number of players on the continent".

Hey thank you for your answers! They were very helpful!

About the records: I did not really get the difference between MX records and Dedimania records though. :/ Maniaexchange runs on every server or not? So where would the difference to Dedimania be then?

No, ManiaExchange is only a platform to exchange maps. Records can be uploaded there, but they are static (or in other words: offline), that's all.
Dedimania is a sever plugin, it basically has nothing to do with ManiaExchange. It is a different record system, which collects live records.
