Demo?
Whats up with the Demo? Its not available anymore. I wanted to try this out before commiting to buying a 40$ game about ants.

Might have just missed it. It was originally only going to be online during the Steam Fest thing, but they extended the demo a bit since it was popular. Taken down on the 4th, apparently:

Is it not? I downloaded it earlier today and played it just now.

Man what the hell why do they take away the demo from us ? Downloaded it and they never gave me a warning about the date and now it's gone jeez, thanks for nothing.

Yes, sadly that is the new trend. Temporary demos. Don't really see the point. Could it have something to do with that it costs money for server space and such on Steam?

Many games still have permanent demos, though, but the last few years most are only available during those Steam Next Fest events... :steamsad:

Although not a warning, it was stated that it would be temporary with an 'expiration date', which they extended for a few weeks, but...

I had it downloaded but it look like it was removed. tried launching and it says "no license."

I played yesterday for about 2 hours and it was interesting. It's a 3rd person game, you are a commander. It's RTS but what is cool is you're on the ground as an ant as well. I enjoyed the gameplay session. The demo had a fair amount of troop type, abilities, defenses, upgrades, resource generators, ect.

Ah, well. Their loss. Plenty of other devs want me to try their games.

I have no idea why developers and publishers do this. It's bed enough that most games don't have a demo, but to make one and then remove it is a guaranteed way to make me think the game is going to be bad and not buy your game.

demos should be mandatory at this point on launch so we know how good or bad the mechanics and gameplay are
sadly we have become the QC staff by buying and playing it (not saying it for this game/dev team) but it is just a fact. looks very interesting and i'm following it to see how it compares to my other ants game
To be fair. Steam let's you play what, 2 or 3 hours? Full refund no questions asked.

If you already downloaded the demo, you can right click on it in the Library > Properties. then select Installed Files > Browse, and then run "Empire.exe". Demo still works a treat

The demo doesnt include multiplayer or custom games though so you might not find what youre looking for in it

such a dumb practice to release a temporary demo, they must be losing lots of potential customers...

Was really looking forward to giving this a crack, and to find that I downloaded the demo just for them to take it away without warning... well, it doesn't set a good precedent for the way they're going to deal with fans.
