Salaries
Anyone else think they're a bit high? I'm now near the end of my first season with Alphatauri and I've been dealing with contracts, both extending and signing some new people. And man, everybody wants so much money. I had to double or tripple the salary of the race engineer, I had to more than double the salary of de Beer to go to the team, I had to pay Tsunoda six times what he's earning in season one, and I even had to almost double Lawson when promoting him to the team next season. Same for getting a new reserve driver on board from F2. These salaries just seem kinda crazy to me. Especially considering half of these people still were negative about their salary but the rest of the terms were good enough. I think only de Beer was actually positive about his salary offer. I get that they are expecting a higher salary and that I'm Alphatauri but this just seems insane. I feel like either starting salaries should be higher or the salary increases they are expecting should be lower.

Or at the minimum the game needs some kind of indication how far off you are with someone being happy with the deal, on each individual part of the deal and the deal as a whole. I think I recall someone declining a contract despite them being happy with most things and being neutral on one or two things. And then you have someone agreeing to a contract who agrees on everything but is still unhappy about their salary. And it would help a lot if the reply at least ballparks what they do want. Sure, your salary isn't enough. But is it close enough that I need to add another 300k or do I need to add 5 million?

Yes, I've noticed that support staff and drivers both seem to want way more money than their current contracts (or last year's game).

Contract "negotiations" are still pretty basic, although being able to hire for next season now is nice.

Oh yeah, being able to hire for the next season is a big improvement. It would just be cool if they would send you a counter offer or at a minimum we get more feedback on how close we are.

Yep, more of an indication of how far off would be welcome. Resigning Lando at the end of his starting contract requires 20Million+. This is a pretty big jump and the game doesn't really indicate how much more is required when you start by offering him the same or only slightly more.

Yeah, there really should be something indicating needing 5+ (or even 10+) million more, something between 1 and 5 million, and something below one million. Or a counter offer so you're actually negotiating something.

I signed Lando for 15.8 million a year on a 4 yr contract...

I do agree that some of the drivers are overpriced. The main issue is with the TD, HOA, Race Engineers and so forth. Those seem quite skewed. I signed one of the AI generated TD when I was doing McLaren and it cost me 5+ mill for someone who was ranked below guys who were making like 2 mill a year.

The problem is that the game gives you zero indication how far off you are.

I offered the head of aero double his salary and he was still saying no, then contract broke down. This isn't realistic, I have no idea if I'm even in the right ballpark.

Very unfun feature right now - we need way better feedback from the recipient.

Completely agree - I really was enthusiastic about reaching the end of the season and starting into the new one, seeing whether my development choices were good ones or not. Now I am near the end and struggle to extend the contract of my Chief of Aerodynamics (McLaren) or find a replacement. I am already near the double of his original salary and he won't sign.
I'm really wondering how to stay within the budget cap if it will take more than double the salary for every important team member.

Fortunately I believe only the wages of race engineers and the sporting director count towards the budget cap.

This needs to be fixed.

Tsunoda not accepting 3 mil contract for 2 years over a contract of 1.2 mil for 2 years he's having now is simply stupid, not a single young driver would decline such offer, how much does he needs 10 millions? with an overall of 81... yea ok mate, this game is broken.
It's the same for most drivers and staff members.

Good to see it's not just me who find this ludicrous. WTH are the dev doing that the issue is still here at the end of October 😂🫠

at the end of second season with Williams, Alexander Albon DNF'd 9 times out of 19 races and wanted more than 300% pay rise... you know I let him go and hired someone else^^

As Williams august season 1 I started signing new contracts. And everybody wants atleast double their current salary to sign.
So for those who have played multiple seasons. Will they require another doubling in 2-3 years when I have to renew? If it just goes up and up every time, the game will be unplayable after 7-8 seasons.

It will go up of course as the drivers get better. But the biggest problem is that the starting salaries are simply way too low. The other increases are better.
In 22, signing bonus helped to reduce required wage.
